The internship programme of LST is for all students interested in gaining experience in the fields of human rights and law. The internship would include engaging in research activities as well as active participation in organizing discussions and workshops.

Students interested in taking part in the internship programme are encouraged to contact LST with a copy of their curriculum vitae. International students must also submit a brief outline of a research idea including clearly defined output/s along with writing sample/s. Please note that depending on the duration of the internship the students must also be prepared to be involved in other project activities of LST, as and when required.

The Law & Society Trust in partnership with three Northern Muslim organizations based in Puttalam, and an advisory group of prominent Muslim civil society actors, have formed the Citizen’s Commission on the Expulsion to address some of these issues. The principle objective of the exercise is to produce authoritative documentation of the expulsion and its consequences that is sanctioned by the community, and to list the community’s grievances through a document endorsed by a commission of inquiry consisting of prominent local civil society actors.

The commission has been in operation since August 2009 and has currently conducted four sittings in Puttalam and Colombo.

The Commission Secretariat housed at the Law & Society Trust (LST) is looking for
students from any discipline interested in issues of History, Politics and Social Justice to work as interns on the commission. They should be fluent in Tamil and English and be computer literate.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY IN THE EAST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARBEITER- SAMARITER-BUND DEUTSCHLAND (ASB) : Deadline January, 31 2010.

The Arbeiter- Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB) a German NGO, in collaboration with The Law & Society Trust (LST) a Colombo based Human Rights Organization is conducting an internship program to work in the East (Batticaloa and Amparai districts).
